The Gospel of Matthew

Matthew Chapter 5: 4

Jesus said, "Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted."
Note ~ This saying has a simple straight forward meaning on one level. When we lose a loved one to death, we grieve and mourn the loss of their companionship. But we are comforted by the hope and belief that they will enter Heaven, beyond all suffering, by the grace of the Divine Loving Creator.
But regarding our own personal Spiritual journey, it may hold another insight. If I waste years of my life in meaningless pursuits, or pour my life's energy into partaking in evil ways, I will have wasted and abused the precious gift of life, that God gave me. At some point in time, I may realise the seriousness of this, and I may fall into deep despair, feel hopeless and some may even think of suicide. Here, we would be mourning the death or loss of those years, wasted through our own choosing. The fact that we did this to ourselves, would rub salt into our Spiritual wounds. Who would forgive us or have sympathy? It was our own fault. We may feel very alone, or abandoned.
The Divine Loving Creator only Loves us, no matter how far into the darkness we go. We only have to turn back to our Divine Creator, broken in our sorrow and ask for forgiveness. He will then wrap His Love around us, to heal us of all our Spiritual wounds, lift us up and restore us, through the power of His Divine Love. Just as Jesus was not repulsed by an unclean leper He healed by Divine Love, likewise, our Divine Creator is not repulsed by our sins, but just wants us to be well again.. Then we have to immerse ourselves, or be baptised, in the words of Jesus. His words carry Divine Love in them, and when we let them enter into our Soul in Spirit, they will winnow the dark ways out of us, and fill us with the Way of Divine Love.
By following His Way, He will bring us into the Light of the Divine Loving Creator, and make our life joyful again. We will no longer have to mourn, over what we lost through our own doing, but rejoice in a new life as a Spiritual child of the Divine Loving Creator.
