                                                                         The Gospel of Matthew

                                        Matthew Chapter 3: 13-15

Then Jesus came to the Jordan from Galilee to John to be baptised by him. But John was trying to dissuade Him saying,

' I have need to be baptised by you and you come to me?' But Jesus replied, "allow it to be so now, for in this way it is fitting for us to complete all righteousness," Then John baptised Him.

Note ~ John realised that Jesus had a higher experience and more pure understanding of the Divine Loving Creator than himself, to share with the Jewish people. But Jesus told him not to worry about feeling inadequate to baptise Him with water, as it is a common Jewish practice. A tradition, that can represent cleansing before doing something of importance or of a Spiritual nature. Jesus was ritually preparing Himself, according to this tradition, before beginning His ministry.

This water baptism would be a symbolic bridge between the old wine of the Old Testament, and the new wine He was about to reveal. This would bring in a new Spiritual Way to follow, and a corrected understanding of the Divine Loving Creator. Jesus does not disparage the good traditions of the old way, but corrects and removes, the deviations and distortions that had crept in over time.
